One of our more interesting projects was setting up the Nissan GT-R run by Team Exotics Rally / Hudson Jeans in the Bullrun rally. The requirements were: Give a GT-R 600-odd horsepower, and make it able to run at top speed through the desert for hours on end without running out of gas or exploding. Easy, right?
Not really. Numerous cooling and airflow tweaks were made. A custom 22-gallon ATL auxiliary fuel cell was installed in the trunk, more than doubling the stock range of the car. A truly hilarious number of electronic gadgets were added over several Bullrun events, including: Radar and Laser detectors and jammers, CB radios, VHF/UHF scanners and radios, wide band / long range 4G / 3G cellular data w/ wifi, and a multi-camera live streaming system that let fans of the team follow along from around the world. All of that stuff was run via a custom iPad application.
After quite a lot of development, we got the formula right, and the GT-R won the rally twice in a row before being retired.
