Lotus Elise Turbo
One of PRI’s first rental cars was this Lotus Elise, which began life as the prototype turbo car built by Hypersport Engineering. When we got our paws on it, it was a full on race car with more than a few drivability issues. Our challenge was to set it up to be a street car, without losing its race car roots.
First we redesigned and repackaged the turbo system, exhaust, and intercooler setup. Then, we ditched the flakey Unichip piggyback ECU for a custom tune on the stock ECU. We added a computer controlled intercooler fan, a light weight audio system, RaceLogic traction control, and various other odds and ends that make it possible to drive and enjoy a 300+ horsepower Elise on the street. PRI has even had customers drive the thing in the snow!
