Renault R5 Turbo

A customer of ours with particularly eclectic tastes in vehicles (which we love, by the way) purchased this ultra-rare Renault R5 Turbo and asked us to make it work properly. We were faced with numerous… interesting challenges, such as a first-generation Electromotive Tec-1 ECU that no one had software for and was no longer supported by the manufacturer, and the simple fact that finding parts for these cars in the US is largely impossible without some very specialized knowledge.

We were also faced with making a rather.. French electrical system more or less work properly and not burn the car to the ground. With quite a lot of elbow grease, we delivered what is likely one of the best-running R5 Turbos in the states, with a custom exhaust, improved brakes and cooling, improved lighting, and an almost entirely rebuilt electrical system.

One thing is sure, these little cars are one of the most unique and downright hilarious driving experiences to be had.
